What are Wax Melts and How do I use Them?
Many people enjoy candles and the ambience and warmth they add to a room. They are a great addition to any room and make wonderful gifts. If you are like us and like your whole home to be filled with a wonderful scent, you will know at times this can be hard to achieve with candles. The reason for this is the flame of a candle comes into direct contact with the fragrance and much of it is burned off. If you enjoy a very strong fragrance wax melts can be very beneficial. As there is no naked flame contacting the fragrance, they are usually much stronger.
Wax melts are small, scented pieces of wax. They require gentle heating to release their fragrance. They come in many shapes and sizes and can be scented with thousands of different fragrances. A wax melt is essentially a candle without the wick. So, they do need a heat source to melt them and release the fragrance. An oil burner or wax burner is used for that. You place you wax melt in the well of the wax burner. Place a tea light underneath the well of the wax burner, this slowly melts the wax melt and releases a fabulous fragrance throughout your home. We recommend melting your wax melt for no longer than 3-4 hours at a time. Depending on the quality of your wax melt you may get up to 12 hours per melt.
When the fragrance has gone, and you have finished with your melt you will need to allow the wax some time to solidify before changing it. Some burners will allow you to simply pop them straight out by apply pressure with one or two fingers to one side. Wax can adhere to some types of burners and in this case, you will need to light a tea light for no longer than 10-20 seconds to slightly melt the wax to dislodge it.
